Though the Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to consider allowing Aadhaar, voter ID and ration cards as identity proof in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, confusion and anxiety continue to weigh heavily on the lakhs of migrants who live across the country.

Ahead of assembly elections in the state later this year, the EC is conducting a special revision exercise; the aim is to eliminate duplicate and bogus voters. The exercise, last conducted in 2003, targets updated enrollment and removal of ineligible entries.
