A grand Hindu temple being built in West Bengal’s coastal town of Digha is facing opposition from an entirely unexpected quarter – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The BJP has been forced to raise objections to West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee’s pet project – a grand replica of Puri’s famous Jagannath temple, a strange position to take for a party built on aggressive, at times violent, temple politics.
