Will Taliban unleash water war on Pak the way India did post Pahalgam?

Months after India restricted Indus water flow to Pakistan, Afghanistan’s supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has now ordered construction of a dam on the Kunar river, a move that could leave Pakistan’s Punjab province high and dry

Amid ongoing border tensions with Pakistan, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan has revealed plans to begin constructing a dam on the transboundary river Kunar, a move likely to reduce water flow into the neighbouring country.

This decision comes months after India’s suspension of a 65-year-old water-sharing agreement with Pakistan in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which saw New Delhi halt the flow of water from the Indus river and its tributaries.
