Gravely wounded in the strike that killed Ali Khamenei, but still mentally sharp, Iran’s new supreme leader remains unseen and unheard. As he recovers from multiple surgeries and severe burns, how much of a role does he really have right now?

Where is Mojtaba Khamenei? How serious are his injuries? Why has he not appeared in public? Is he even alive?

These are the questions being asked ever since the US and Israel struck Iran on February 28. An airstrike on his compound in Tehran killed Mojtaba’s father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as his mother, his wife and a son.
