Nepal installed Sushila Karki, a former chief justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, as the leader of an interim government on Friday (September 12), after anger over a bloody crackdown on protests forced out Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Karki, 73, the country’s first female chief justice, has a reputation for standing up to corruption in a graft-ridden society.
