Days after anti-India youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi’s murder, unidentified assailants shot and critically wounded a second leader involved in the July Uprising – a development that adds to the already volatile situation in Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s descent into lawlessness is becoming increasingly apparent, with another targeted attack on a ‘July Uprising’ leader, underscoring the nation’s growing instability.

On December 22, unidentified gunmen shot Motaleb Shikder, a functionary of the newly floated National Citizen Party (NCP), in the head in the southwestern Khulna city, days after the murder of the 32-year-old radical Islamic leader Sharif Osman Hadi, known for his strong anti-India rhetoric.
