Unlike in the US, women in India are not told if they have dense breasts. This could mean a missed cancer diagnosis

In a 2024 interview, singer Sheryl Crow had opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis, saying, “If we just do that check every now and again to see if there are changes, it can be the difference between stage 1 and stage 4.” Since Crow had dense breasts that made self-exams difficult, she had been advised regular mammograms from age 35 itself. Thankfully, a routine one in 2006 (when she was 44) caught the cancer early and prompt treatment made her cancer free.
