GLP-1 weight-loss drugs promise dramatic results, but their benefits often vanish once injections stop. From rising costs and insurance gaps to rebound hunger and muscle loss, doctors and patients explain why many people struggle to come off these medicines and why long-term treatment may be unavoidable

GLP-1 weight-loss drugs such as semaglutide and tirzepatide have been hailed as breakthrough treatments for obesity, helping people shed 10-20% of their body weight really quickly in clinical trials.
