As NEET-UG 2026 heads for a re-test, a Supreme Court plea by the United Doctors Front has shifted the focus from one alleged paper leak to a larger question: whether NTA’s current structure can guarantee fair, secure national exams
The cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 after allegations of a widespread paper leak has now reached the Supreme Court, with a doctors’ body, United Doctors Front (UDF), seeking the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in its present form and demanding that a new statutory testing authority be created through an Act of Parliament.
The petition also seeks that even the NEET re-test should not be handled by NTA. Instead, it has asked for the exam to be conducted under a court-monitored committee, which would also oversee the transition of upcoming national examinations to ensure they are conducted with “zero-leak” integrity.
