A softer rupee is making remittances worth more in India. But even foreign-currency deposits are rising, showing NRIs are choosing Indian banks for more than just the exchange rate. Richa Gandhi explains

Deposit inflows have climbed sharply over the past five years, well above pre-Covid levels. Over $16 billion in 2025 was the highest single-year inflow in more than a decade.
