Late last month, some Air India officials pored over an internal circular that planned to stop complimentary meals to economy-class passengers on domestic flights almost immediately.
Air India provides complimentary meals to all passengers, unlike rivals like IndiGo that charge separately for almost everything. But with losses touching a record Rs 27,000 crore, even areas like meals are now being looked at for cost reductions.
