The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023, which became operational on Aug 11, 2023, represents a paradigm shift towards trust-based governance. In one bold stroke, 183 provisions across 42 central Acts, administered by 19 ministries and departments, were decriminalised.
