Tax reforms in Bharat have never been as interesting and topical as the Goods and Service Tax reforms have been. Starting from the 30 June 2017 midnight launch of GST to the near-midnight press conference on 3 Sep 2025, announcing landmark changes, there has never been a dull moment in this journey. Be it the initial niggling concerns on the tax rates that rotis/parathas would attract or the more recent discussion on the kinds of popcorn we consume, the GST journey over the past eight years has been quite eventful. And even consumers who are not tax experts have found it engrossing.
