Ranji Trophy: Focus on young guns and old war horses as India’s domestic season begins

32 teams, 132 matches over 10 weeks -- there is an old-school charm about Ranji Trophy, which is unparalleled in domestic cricket.
Following a Covid-forced tweaking in the format, the Ranji Trophy on Tuesday returned in its original format. The elite teams have been divided into four groups. The plate group teams like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Bihar will battle it out among themselves with the two finalists earning a promotion. Also back this season is the home-and-away concept with neutral venues.
