Tennis bid farewell to a number of stars in 2022. Ash Barty, Juan Martin del Potro, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all brought their careers to an end in the first half of the season. What really left us all dumbfounded, though, were the bombshell retirement announcements of Serena Williams and Roger Federer which came in the fall, within a short span.
While the American legend, however, has not quite confirmed she is definitely done, the Swiss maestro insisted there would be no U-turn on his part, as a failed bid to recover from knee injuries saw the 41-year-old ultimately walk into the sunset at the Laver Cup in September in the company of three of his greatest rivals - Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
