Election fever is catching up. The Election Commission of India on Monday announced schedule for the Legislative Assembly elections in five states — Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana. The elections will begin on November 7 in Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 17. And elections in Rajasthan and Telangana will happen on November 23 and 30 respectively. Chhattisgarh is the only state that will witness a two-phase election, that’s on November 7 and 17.
The two states are very important in terms of elections before the Lok Sabha polls. Chhattisgarh is carved out of Madhya Pradesh and the two states have a shared history. But in terms of electoral issues and scenarios, they are very different.
