FAKE ALERT: Soldier who passed away due to cancer falsely linked to Galwan Valley clash

CLAIM
Several leading media outlets published news reports linking the death of army soldier Late Havaldar Bishan Singh to the Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese forces.
The reports claimed that Singh was injured during the clash that happened on June 15, 2020 and he recently succumbed to his injuries.

Based on these media reports, several social media users too posted about Singh, paying respects to the soldier.

TRUTH
Singh was not injured during the Galwan Valley clash. He passed away while fighting cancer.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
As per a news report published on Navbharat Times, Havaldar Singh was suffering from cancer. Indian Army denied the news of him being injured in the Galwan skirmish.

Singh was part of 17 Kumaon Regiment. He was undergoing treatment at a Haryana hospital.
