FAKE ALERT: No Pakistan, Air Marshal Hari Kumar was NOT sacked

Many Pakistani media outlets and Twitter users made false claims about the retirement of the Western Command Air Marshal

saying he was sacked after the Indian Air Force (IAF) lost a fighter aircraft to Pakistan.

Air Marshall Chandrashekharan Hari Kumar is a highly-decorated officer of the IAF who retired on February 28, 2019. He was not sacked as claimed by Pakistani journalists and media outlets.

The official, verified Twitter and Facebook accounts of the IAF posted about Kumar's retirement. In the Facebook post, IAF said, "Air Marshal Chandrashekharan Hari Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command Indian Air Force retired on 28 February 2019 after an illustrious career spanning over 39 yrs (sic)."

The post also said, "For his distinguished service to the Nation, he was awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and appointed Honorary Air Force ADC to President of India on 01 Jan 2017 (sic)."

Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar has taken over as the Air Officer Commanding in Chief of Western Air Command (WAC). Another IAF tweet announced this. The tweet said, "Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar, took over as the Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-in-C) of Western Air Command (WAC) wef 01 Mar 19. Air Marshal C Hari Kumar handed over the command of WAC on his superannuation after 39 yrs of glorious service (sic)."

The claims made by Pakistani media and journalists that Air Marshal Hari Kumar was sacked are completely baseless and false.
