Learning is a lifelong process and attention is its stepping stone. While it’s easier for one to pay attention to things that are exciting to them, however, one could find it difficult to pay attention to things that are not interesting or intriguing to them. The ability to focus differs from person to person.

One’s intelligence is attached to their ability to focus. In fact, science has revealed that there is a correlation between concentration and memory. Improving concentration helps one's memory. Attention is vital for good memory.

While it is evident that attention is a key survival skill, today there are countless ways to enhance it. Attention is everything – talking, studying, working or playing require attention. In the age of information, there is a barrage of information, media, and instant modes of entertainment. A slight delay in video playback on smartphones, make some of us squirm and look for other alternatives. Similarly, unless presentations are interactive and engaging many of the participants zone out. Today, more and more importance is being accorded to concentration and patience. Many experts in the world feel that attention is not getting shorter, but it’s changing as people are becoming more selective.

Attention is crucial in almost every area of life. Be it school, work, or family and relationships, attention is inevitable. It lets people focus on information that is important and creates memories. Over the years, there have been several pieces of research that have revealed how many things a person can focus on at a time and for how long. The main variable that impacts the ability to focus is the level of interest a person has in a particular task and the number of distractions. Some of the most commonly preferred methods to improving attention are maintaining adequate sleep, practising mindfulness, and most importantly avoiding multitasking.

CONCENTRATION

Concentration is essentially focused attention. Over the years, researchers have found numerous uses and benefits of concentration. Today with the help of technology several courses help one to enhance their concentration. It is vital to filter out irrelevant information to focus on things that are important in the moment.

Focussed attention enables efficient studying, faster comprehension, improves memory, and assists in accomplishing goals and objectives. Harnessing the power of concentration can make one attain peace of mind and mental agility.
