WhatsApp is said to be working on a new feature for the iPhone users. The feature will enable automatic translation of messages across 21 languages. According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a feature which will automatically translate messages in chats and groups in the future. Spotted in iOS beta update, the feature is said to make it easier for users to communicate across different languages and also eliminate the need for manual translation. Along with this, this upcoming WhatsApp feature is also said to help the users to easily have multilingual conversations.
How the feature will work
As per the report, the upcoming transaction feature will be directly integrated into chat settings, where users will be able to enabled automatic translations.
After activating the feature, the incoming messages will automatically get translated into the preferred language of the user. The report further adds that the translations will be processed on the device locally with the help of Apple’s APIs. This move will make sure that the conversations are end-to-end encrypted and that no messages are being sent to the external servers.

WhatsApp Makes Group Calls Smarter
“WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature designed to automatically translate messages.
While this feature is currently under development and scheduled for release in a future update, it already aims to enhance user convenience. At the moment, users must select a message and choose the "Translate" option to see its translation. Although this feature gives users control over which messages they want to translate, translating multiple messages may be complicated,” reads the WABetaInfo report.
As per the report, WhatsApp is planning to support around 21 languages in the first phase of the launch. Along with this, users will also be able to download language packs for offline use enabling translations to work even without a working Internet connection. The translations will also appear automatically but users will still have the choice to view the original message and remove the translation if needed. This ensures transparency and control over how conversations are displayed.
