Sudeep Kunnumal takes over as TCS' CHRO designate starting today; company announces in BSE filing
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT company, has appointed Sudeep Kunnumal as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) designate, effective March 14, according to a regulatory filing on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) by the company. This appointment follows the retirement of the current Milind Lakkad, who served as CHRO and executive vice president for nearly six years at the Tata Group subsidiary, the filing said. Lakkad began his career at TCS as a trainee in 1987 and over his 38-year tenure, he took on various roles, including heading the Manufacturing Practice in 2006 and later advancing to lead the Manufacturing Business Group within two years.
"Mr. Sudeep Kunnumal has been appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer Designate with effect from March 14, 2025 and would take over as Chief Human Resources Officer, upon superannuation of Mr. Milind Lakkad," reads TCS' exchange filing.
The BSE filing also shares profile of Sudeep Kunnumal. In his current role, Sudeep Kunnumal led the Human Resources function for Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) vertical and has been associated with the company since the year 2000. In 2006, Kunnumal assumed the role of global head of HR for TCS’ critical BFSI vertical. With more than 25 years of HR experience, Kunnumal has occupied several significant positions, such as director of HR for Asia Pacific, head of talent acquisition in India, and head of HR for Europe, among others.
Before joining TCS, Kunnumal served as head of HR at Petro Araldite Pvt. Ltd. and as a senior personnel officer at Indo Matsushita Appliances Company Limited. Kunnumal earned a Master of Social Work degree specializing in personnel management from Madurai Kamaraj University and completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, with an emphasis on Science and Mathematics.
