Palantir CEO Alex Karp on Iran's threat of attacks on American infrastructure: Look who is on the list, and who is ...
Experts and executives across industries have been debating on the role of AI in the war and how it is pushing the conflict to a new frontier. Among those is Alex Karp, CEO of the defense security company Palantir. Karp recently spoke about the changing nature of the war and the impact of AI. He also stressed how the critical resources at target have changed. The attack on Amazon data centres in the Middle East is an example of the same. Iran reportedly bombed three Amazon data centers in the Middle East last week, bringing operations at these centres at halt.
In this war, the US data centers are increasingly seen as national security assets, hosting critical digital infrastructure used by governments and big companies. Talking of the same, Karp said, “They’re evil, they’re not stupid.” He added, “Look who’s on the list, look who’s not. We’re in the middle of war. You would expect it to be a list of hardcore military companies. They are interested in the things they can’t produce.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the news agency wrote that assets of companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Nvidia, IBM, and Palantir in roughly 30 locations throughout the Middle East are Iran’s “new targets in the region.” The message claimed that these sites have been identified as “enemy technology infrastructure.”
Several locations highlighted by Tasnim are in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and in Tel Aviv, Israel. According to the list, most locations were selected due to their involvement in developing AI systems or because they coordinate cloud computing services across the Middle East. Four offices belonging to Oracle, IBM, and Google in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Abu Dhabi were singled out because they allegedly provide infrastructure for “military entities,” the post said.

Iran "threatens" Amazon, Google and Microsoft offices in Middle East
Last week, Iranian news agency Tasnim published a list of approximately 30 Big Tech targets throughout the Middle East. The list called them “enemy technology infrastructure”, signalling that they could be the next targets. The Iranian news agency Tasnim has ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the report, Iran could target American Big Tech as tensions with the United States continue to escalate.

AI is giving America edge in the fight
Karp believes that AI technology is giving America an edge in its ongoing war with Iran. “What makes America special right now is our lethal capabilities, our ability to fight war,” Karp said. He added that another major advantage is that “the AI revolution is uniquely American.”Popular from Technology
