ColorOS 16 builds on its predecessor's foundation by introducing Seamless Animation, according to the company, which added that this fluidity will be evident across various user actions, such as quickly opening and closing apps, navigating with gestures, and managing multiple widgets.
Two core technologies power ColorOS 16 for improved performance
Luminous Rendering Engine: This engine controls and renders all visual components in parallel, eliminating jarring between animations and maintaining system smoothness.
All-New Trinity Engine: Introduced for heavy-load scenarios like intensive gaming and multitasking, this engine combines chip-level enhancements with smart resource allocation to ensure sustained speed and power efficiency.
The operating system introduces a refreshed design inspired by the interplay of light and shadow in nature. Customisation options include setting Motion Photos or videos as wallpapers and allowing AI to suggest text styles that match the background.
Beyond traditional capabilities, ColorOS 16 brings full-screen Always-On Display (AOD), which allows users to view their lock screen wallpaper alongside key information, transitioning into the full lock screen with a single tap.
The Flux Home Screen enables users to long-press and resize any folder or app icon into various formats (tall, wide, or large), with the surrounding home screen layout dynamically adapting via fluid animations.
For creators, AI Portrait Glow is added to the photo editing suite, optimizing skin tones and balancing light in poorly lit portraits with one tap. This feature joins existing tools like AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover. The built-in video editor has also been upgraded with Master Cut, offering comprehensive trimming, speed controls, music integration, and manual adjustments.
Oppo is also expanding its cross-ecosystem functionality with O+ Connect, which now supports both Mac and Windows PCs.
