Netflix rolls out this Instagram-like feature in India, US and other markets: What is it and how it will work
Netflix has started rolling out a redesigned mobile app interface in India, the US and several other markets. The new version of the Netflix app includes a vertical video stream called “Clips.” The aim of the update is to ensure users can find new material through short video clips. This new version will be rolled out across various locations, such as Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the USA.The rollout follows earlier testing of a vertical video feed, with the company noting that “we know that swiping through a vertical feed on social media apps is an easy way to browse video content.”

What is Netflix Clips and how it works

The new “Clips” tab appears in the bottom navigation bar alongside Home, Search and My Netflix. When users open the section, they are shown short clips from shows and movies based on their viewing preferences. The interface allows users to scroll vertically through clips, with options to share content or add titles directly to their watchlist. The layout is similar to short-form video feeds, with on-screen controls positioned alongside the video.According to Netflix, the Clips feed currently focuses on content from its shows and films.
The company plans to expand this to include clips from podcasts and live events in the future. It is also working on a Collections feature that will group clips by themes such as comedy or reality TV.Alongside the Clips feature, Netflix has updated its Home tab. The “New & Hot” section, which was previously a separate tab, is now integrated into the Home screen as one of the top categories. The app continues to open to the Home tab, but the navigation structure has been simplified to include fewer sections, highlighting discovery tools like Clips.Commenting on the new feature, Netflix’s chief product and technology officer, Elizabeth Stone, said, “Our vision is to make our mobile experience as entertaining as what you watch, delivering increasingly personalized, immersive experiences for any mood or moment. This is just the beginning.”
