Apple hosted its biggest event of the year 2025 where it took the wraps off its latest iPhone models. The Cupertino-based company announced four new iPhone models – the ultra-thin Apple iPhone Air along with the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The 2025 iPhone lineup offers 120Hz refresh rate across all models – a feature that was previously exclusive to Pro models only. Along with this, Apple has also brought back Aluminium frame design to both iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Further, all models – Apple iPhone Air along with iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max boasts of 48MP Fusion camera and 256GB storage variants. Apple has also announced both India pricing and pre-orders of the new iPhone models. Here’s a look at all features and price of iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air.

Apple iPhone Air features

The all-new Apple iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever with 5.6mm thickness. Apple also claims that iPhone Air is “most durable” yet, with a ceramic shield protecting a titanium frame. The smartphone boasts of a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.



Apple iPhone Air comes powered by the new A19 Pro chip, described as the most powerful iPhone chip to date. Notably, this is the same chip that powers the iPhone 17 Pro models. Alongside the chip, there’s the Apple-built C1x modem, which is claimed to be twice as fast as the C1.


On the camera front, the handset is equipped with a 48MP Fusion Camera system with a 12MP telephoto lens. This allows users to record video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. For selfies and video calls, there is a 18MP selfie camera that supports Center Stage, which automatically fits everyone into the frame during calls.

The iPhone Air also gets the new N1 chip design that provides support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Apple promises that the iPhone Air comes with “all day” battery life with up to 40 hours of video playback.


Also, the iPhone Air is an e-SIM-only device globally to maximise battery space. Other features include the Action button to quickly access a variety of functions with just a press, and Camera Control, to quickly launch the camera or enable visual intelligence.

Apple iPhone Air is offered in black, white, beige and light blue colours. Pre-orders begin Friday (September 12) with availability beginning September 19.

Apple iPhone 17 features

Apple iPhone 17 is slightly larger at 6.3 inches and features thinner edges around the screen. It offers 120Hz refresh rate, a feature that till now was exclusive to Pro models only. The display is brighter, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits, and includes an always-on feature. To help prevent scratches, the screen is made with a new Ceramic Shield 2 and has a special coating to reduce glare in the sun.

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is powered by the new A19 chip, which Apple says is designed to handle future AI features. This powerful new chip, along with the faster screen, is expected to make mobile gaming feel incredibly smooth.


The camera system has also been updated. Apple is calling it a "dual fusion" system, combining a 48MP main camera with a 2x telephoto lens into a single camera. The phone also features a new 48MP ultra wide camera that captures more detail. For the first time, the front camera is square-shaped and 18MP, allowing you to take landscape selfies without turning your phone sideways. It also has a feature called Center Stage for better video calls.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display that supports ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On mode, and peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits. The screen is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 on both the front and back, which offers three times better scratch resistance and four times better crack resistance compared to earlier models.


Apple says the smartphone is built from aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminium in a new unibody design that integrates an Apple-designed vapor chamber for better heat dissipation. This design not only improves performance but also allows space for a larger battery, giving the iPhone 17 Pro its best-ever battery life.


At its core, the device is powered by the A19 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU enhanced with neural accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine. This combination delivers faster sustained performance, advanced AI processing, and console-level graphics. The new N1 wireless chip adds support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for improved connectivity.

The iPhone 17 Pro introduces a three-camera Fusion system with 48-megapixel Main, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto lenses. The Telephoto camera features a new tetraprism design with up to 8x optical zoom, the longest ever on an iPhone. A new 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera offers a wider field of view, improved selfies, and 4K HDR video recording with stabilisation.


For video, the iPhone 17 Pro supports Dolby Vision HDR, ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock for synchronising multiple cameras in professional productions. It runs iOS 26, which introduces Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation, improved visual intelligence, offline foundation models, and enhanced communication tools.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max features

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comes with a large 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On, and peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits. Both the front and back are protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which improves scratch resistance three times over and makes the back four times more resistant to cracks compared to older iPhones.


It is powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, paired with a vapor chamber cooling system to deliver up to 40 percent better sustained performance. The unibody aluminium design allows for a larger battery, making the iPhone 17 Pro Max the longest-lasting iPhone yet. Apple says the device can charge up to 50 percent in 20 minutes with its new 40W USB-C adapter.


The phone comes with a triple 48MP Fusion camera setup, including a new Telephoto lens that supports up to 8x optical zoom — the longest on an iPhone. Photos can also be zoomed digitally up to 40x. On the front, a new 18MP Center Stage camera automatically adjusts the frame for group selfies, supports 4K HDR video with stabilisation, and allows simultaneous recording from the front and rear cameras.


For video, the iPhone 17 Pro Max supports Dolby Vision HDR, ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock, giving filmmakers professional-grade tools for multi-camera setups.


The device also introduces the N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support for faster and more reliable connections. Certain regions will get an eSIM-only model, which replaces the physical SIM slot with more space for a larger battery, giving up to 39 hours of video playback.


Running on iOS 26, the iPhone 17 Pro Max adds Apple Intelligence features, including on-device AI for live translation, improved visual search, call screening, and enhanced privacy.
