Google CEO Sundar Pichai says Gemini 3 Deep Think is getting ‘significant upgrade’: Here’s what has changed
Google has announced that it has updated Gemini 3 Deep Think AI model that aims to accelerate the pace at which the technology handles complex, real-world problems. Company CEO Sundar Pichai called its a “significant upgrade”, saying that the tech giant has refined Deep Think in close partnership with scientists and researchers to solve “messy” challenges in science, engineering and advanced mathematics where there isn't always a single right answer.
“Gemini 3 Deep Think is getting a significant upgrade. We’ve refined Deep Think in close partnership with scientists and researchers to tackle tough, real-world challenges. And it’s pushing the frontier across the most challenging benchmarks, achieving an unprecedented 84.6% on ARC-AGI-2. It also sets a new standard on Humanity’s Last Exam - 48.4% without tools,” Pichai said in a post on X.
Th company highlighted that the upgraded Gemini 3 Deep Think has scored 48.4% on Humanity's Last Exam (HLE) – a difficult test designed to evaluate advanced language models – without using any external tools.
It is also claimed to have achieved 84.6% score, a new record for general intelligence reasoning, in ARC-AGI-2, and reached Gold Medal levels on the 2025 International Math Olympiad and scored a massive "Elo" (a ranking system) of 3455 in competitive programming.
For example, engineers are already using the tool to model physical systems through code, while researchers use it to interpret complicated data sets that were previously too dense for AI to handle effectively, Google said.
For professionals: For the first time, Google is opening an Early Access Program for the Gemini API. This allows select researchers, engineers, and large businesses to build their own tools using Deep Think’s reasoning power.
“The updated Gemini 3 Deep Think mode is now available for Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app. We’re also, for the first time, making Deep Think available via the Gemini API to select researchers & enterprises through an early access program,” Pichai said.

Accelerating Physics and Chemistry solutions
While the previous version was great at logic, the new Deep Think is now being pushed as a “scientist's assistant.” Google says it can now navigate complex fields like advanced chemistry and theoretical physics.Google Gemini 3 Deep Think availability
