Cloudflare outage: ChatGPT, Spotify, Fortnite and other apps and sites that were hit
Cloudflare, a crucial internet infrastructure company, has confirmed that it resolved a service outage on December 5 that briefly disrupted various online platforms. The incident, which was the second major disruption in the past month, lasted about 30 minutes. During the blackout, users reported issues accessing essential applications and services, including trading platforms like Zerodha, Angel One, and Groww, as well as the design tool Canva. Cloudflare initially informed users that it was investigating issues with the Dashboard and related APIs, later confirming that a fix had been implemented. Cloudflare CTO Dane Knecht clarified that the root cause was not a cyberattack but rather the disabling of specific logging functions to mitigate a recently discovered vulnerability.
The company is central to internet function, helping websites stay online, load quickly, and remain secure from attacks. Because so many sites rely on its services, a single issue can simultaneously take numerous unrelated websites offline. Cloudflare has confirmed the incident is fully resolved. Here’s a list of apps that were affected by the outage:
During the outage, user reports and confirmations across platforms indicated that Cloudflare's outage affected several major apps and websites. The issue affected social media, finance apps, entertainment platforms, e-commerce sites, and AI tools, underscoring how deeply Cloudflare is integrated into the modern internet. It's the infrastructure behind millions of websites and apps—from content delivery and DDoS protection to DNS services. When Cloudflare has an outage, it doesn't just affect one company; it impacts a significant chunk of the internet simultaneously.

Only a few thousand people used the WhatsApp service today. Check out the post in the comments for steps on how to use it.
We're also actively working on reducing our dependency on Cloudflare. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience today.”
During the outage, Groww wrote: “We are currently experiencing technical issues due to a global outage at Cloudflare. This is impacting multiple apps and services worldwide. We are monitoring the situation closely and will update you the moment services are restored. Thank you for your patience.”
