Cloudflare down: What the company's status page has to say on mass outage
Update 5: A fix has been implemented and we believe the incident is now resolved. We are continuing to monitor for errors to ensure all services are back to normal.
Update 4: We've deployed a change which has restored dashboard services. We are still working to remediate broad application services impact.
Update 3: We are continuing to work on a fix for this issue.
Update 2: We have made changes that have allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. Error levels for Access and WARP users have returned to pre-incident rates. We have re-enabled WARP access in London.
Update 1: During our attempts to remediate, we have disabled WARP access in London. Users in London trying to access the Internet via WARP will see a failure to connect.
Original story follows:
Various large websites experienced a widespread disruption after a major technical problem hit Cloudflare, the IT infrastructure company responsible for protecting and accelerating numerous top websites. Multiple reports suggest that visitors attempting to access sites including X (formerly Twitter), Spotify, and film reviewing site Letterboxd were met with error messages indicating an internal server error on Cloudflare’s network. Reportedly, the outage was so widespread that the tracking website Downdetector was temporarily hit by the technical problems itself before recovering to show a dramatic spike in reported incidents.
“Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing,” the company stated in an initial alert.
“We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem,” it added in the latest update. "Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary," the company also said.
The issue appears to be related to the core technologies Cloudflare provides, which include tools that protect websites from cyber attacks and ensure stability under heavy traffic.
The company previously noted that it “will be performing scheduled maintenance in SCL (Santiago) datacenter on 2025-11-18 between 12:00 and 15:00 UTC.”
Users affected by the crash saw a message asking them to "please try again in a few minutes," pointing directly to an “internal server error on Cloudflare’s network.”
The outage began around 12:00 UTC (5:30 p.m. IST) on November 18.
