Vivo has a reputation for making some really good-looking smartphones that also excel in the performance department and its latest launch is no different. The company recently launched the Vivo V70 in India. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the smartphone offers a 50MP main camera and 90W fast charging support. The smartphone promises to deliver a good performance in terms of camera and processor. We tested the Vivo V70 and here’s our complete review.
Design
Vivo can never go wrong with designing a pretty and elegant smartphone and the Vivo V70 is no different. Vivo V70 features a sleek and stylish design which will be liked by many. The premium smartphone from Vivo features a compact and lightweight design. Despite the large screen the phone is easy to use with one hand and can also easily sit in your jeans pocket. The smartphone features a flat slab like design and it is surrounded by a metallic ribbon on all sides. The good-looking Vivo smartphone comes in three colour options – Authentic Black, Passion Red and Sand Beige. We got the Passion Red review unit and in our opinion it is the best colour. The Passion Red colour adds a premium and elegant look to the device and it also justifies its design and price tag. The rear of the Vivo V70 houses the triple camera placed inside squarish camera module located in the top left corner. The rear panel comes with a smooth finish and it does not attract any fingerprints. The power button and volume rockers are located on the right side of the device, whereas the USB Type C charging port and the SIM card tray are placed at the bottom. The front is dominated by a 6.59-inch display which houses the 50MP selfie camera. The smartphone also comes with IP68+IP69 rating which makes it resistant to duster and water. Overall, the Vivo V70 scores very high marks in the design department as the smartphone will impress you with its looks in just seconds.
Display
Vivo V70 houses a colourful and vibrant display. The smartphone features a 6.59-inch 1.5K flat AMOLED display with 1260x2750 pixel resolution. The display comes with HDR10+ support and offers up to 120Hz refresh rate. Along with this, the screen on the Vivo V70 also comes with 5000 nits peak brightness levels. During our testing, the display on the Vivo V70 performed really well. The colours appear rich and vibrant with deep blacks which makes binge watching and browsing an immersive experience. The high refresh rate of the display makes sure that the animations and scrolling is smooth which is particularly noticeable when navigating through social media feeds or playing fast-paced games. The high brightness levels of the display make the screen comfortably visible even under direct sunlight. Watching content like Netflix HDR series or YouTube 4K videos showcases the panel’s ability to reproduce fine details and wide dynamic range. The display also offers excellent viewing angles, so whether you’re watching a film with friends or gaming, the experience remains consistent without colour distortion. The gamers will also love the Vivo V70 display because of its high refresh rate and responsive touch sampling which offer fluid gameplay, especially in titles like BGMI or Asphalt 9. The display’s sharp resolution ensures crisp visuals, while the smooth frame transitions add to the overall enjoyment. To sum, the display on the Vivo V70 is definitely one of the strong selling points of the smartphone.
Performance
Vivo V70 delivers a well-balanced performance. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. It comes in two variants — 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The powerful processor and high RAM capacity ensure smooth multitasking, fast app launches and reliable performance across everyday tasks. So, whether you are browsing, streaming or simply switching between apps the phone offers a smooth and fluid performance without any visible lag. Vivo V70 also delivers a solid gaming performance, with titles like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile running at high settings with stable frame rates. AI-driven optimizations further enhance the experience, with intelligent resource allocation ensuring smoother performance even under heavy workloads. Combined with 5G connectivity and fast Wi-Fi support, the device is well-equipped for modern digital demands.
Coming to software, Vivo V70 runs Android 16 operating system topped with the company's own layer of OriginOS 6. The user interface is clean and much better as compared to the FunTouch OS. OriginOS 6 emphasizes both aesthetics and functionality, offering a clean design language with vibrant widgets, dynamic wallpapers, and a card-style interface that makes navigation intuitive. The system feels responsive, with smooth animations and minimal lag even when multitasking across demanding apps. One of the standout aspects of OriginOS 6 is its deep AI integration. The software intelligently adapts to user habits, offering contextual suggestions, smart app management, and adaptive battery optimization. Features like Scene-based Home Screen layouts and Nano Alerts allow users to personalize their workflow while staying productive.
Camera
Vivo V70 houses a triple rear camera which is tuned by Zeiss options. The rear camera comprises a 50MP main camera with f/1.88 aperture, OIS, 8MP ultra wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 50MP telephoto camera with f/2.65 aperture. Front is home to a 50MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Vivo V70 creates a strong impression with its camera system.
The 50MP primary sensor captures detailed images with balanced exposure and vibrant colours. The f/1.8 aperture allows for adequate light intake, ensuring clear shots in well-lit environments. Images taken in bright conditions showcase accurate sharpness and natural colour reproduction, with minimal post-processing. The HDR mode works efficiently to retain highlights and shadows, preventing overexposure in bright scenarios. The AI Scene recognition automatically detects subjects like food, landscapes, and people, adjusting parameters accordingly for optimised results. The low-light performance of the V70 is decent, thanks to AI-backed Night Mode. The system enhances image brightness and reduces noise, but some softness is noticeable in extremely dark settings. The Night Mode produces well-lit shots, though it may slightly alter colour accuracy. On the other hand, the ultrawide sensor is useful for capturing group shots and expansive landscapes. The ultrawide camera performs best in daylight, but diminished details in low-light settings make it less ideal for nighttime shots. Video performance is equally impressive, with support for HDR video recording, adaptive stabilization, and horizon lock, which keep footage smooth and steady during movement. Features like AI Photo Enhancement and Hyperlapse add creative flexibility, making the V70 suitable for both casual users and content creators.
The 50MP selfie camera also delivers impressive and desirable results. The selfies captured using the Vivo V70 turned out pretty good and well-exposed. The selfies are also good enough to be shared on social media.
Battery
Vivo V70 houses a 6,500 mAh battery which is hard to find in this price segment. Along with a big battery, the Vivo V70 also comes with 90W fast charging support. The smartphone easily manages more than a day’s battery life in a single charge. During our testing we played heavy games, streamed online videos, scrolled the web and frequently used the camera and the smartphone easily delivered around 37 hours of battery backup on a single charge. On the days when the phone usage was lighter we managed around 2 days of juice on a single charge. Along with the long lasting battery life, the 90W fast charging support is another highlight of the smartphone. In practice, the V70 can charge from 0 to 50% in under 20 minutes, and a full charge takes less than an hour. This is particularly useful for users who are constantly on the move and don’t want to be tethered to a charger for long. The phone also manages heat well during charging, ensuring consistent performance without overheating. The combination of a large battery and rapid charging makes the V70 highly reliable for power users.
Verdict
Vivo V70 comes with a starting price tag of Rs 45,999. The smartphone is a complete package. It packs a powerful process and a Zeiss Optics tuned camera which performs well in all the lighting conditions. Along with this, the upgraded and refreshed OS further improves the user experience. Not to forget the 6,500 mAh battery with 90W fast charging support is best for users who are constantly on the move. If you are out looking for a powerful smartphone which performs well in all the departments then Vivo V70 can be your pick.
