Google has started rolling out the August 2025 Pixel update. The latest update comes with a bug fix for Android 16 release and also resolves a critical security flaw that allowed hackers to access devices without any user interaction. Google also says that the August 2025 Pixel update fixes a bug that caused issues with three-button and gesture navigation. The update is rolling out as an over-the-air (OTA) update with the build number BP2A.250805.005 for Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Tablet, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, and 9a.
Those interested can check the update manually by navigating to Settings > System > Software update > System update > Check for updates.
Google says that the most critical issue fixed in the August 2025 security update was CVE-2025-48530 which is marked with high severity. This bug, when used with other existing issues, could let hackers run harmful code on your phone without you doing anything. Hackers didn’t need you to click a button, install an app, or even have physical access to your phone to carry out the attack. Here’s the complete changelog:
