This popular shooting game is coming to Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation consoles on June 14
Riot Games has confirmed that its popular tactical shooting game, Valorant, is set to arrive for consoles. The US-based video game developer updated its website to announce that Valorant will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation platforms in a limited beta version starting June 14. The company has also started allowing console owners to register for the same on its website.
Since its launch in 2020, Valorant has been exclusive to the Windows platform on PCs. However, it will soon be available in beta on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 in select regions, including the US, UK, Canada, and Europe.
The company has also promised that it will expand to more regions "shortly thereafter." However, Riot Games is yet to confirm when the stable full version of the game will be rolled out on gaming consoles.
The limited beta version of Valorant on consoles will be accessible only to registered players. Riot will also allow these players to invite up to five more players to join. The company has also confirmed that cross-playing between consoles and PCs will not be supported. This will ensure that only Xbox and PlayStation players can play together and will also maintain competitive integrity.
However, cross-platform progression will be available for console players which will allow them to carry over their in-game progress. This includes Battle Pass, recruited Agents, purchased skins, and more, between console and PC versions of the game.
Valorant is a tactical online multiplayer first-person shooter with teams of five players. One team attacks and the other defends, in rounds where the goal is to win 13 rounds.
Attackers win by eliminating defenders or planting a 'spike', while defenders win by eliminating attackers or defusing the 'spike'.
The game includes agents, each with unique abilities that can be crucial in gameplay.
