Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive live service title Destruction AllStars gets delisted after 5 years: All details

Sony has delisted Destruction AllStars from the PlayStation Store and shut down the game’s multiplayer servers more than five years after it was first announced as one of the early PlayStation 5 exclusives. Lucid Games' vehicular-based multiplayer fighting game is no longer available for purchase, and its online features are now inactive. However, full server support will be discontinued only on November 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM Eastern Time, whereas the game's owners will still be able to use offline features, such as Arcade Mode. Sony also confirmed that Destruction Points, the game’s virtual currency, has been removed from sale but can still be redeemed until the shutdown date.A notice on the game’s PS5 interface reads, “Multiplayer services for Destruction AllStars have been taken offline. Destruction Points have been removed from sale on the PlayStation Store and can be redeemed until November 25, 2026. Arcade mode remains accessible for returning players.”

Destruction AllStars’ multiplayer support ends while offline modes remain: What it means for players

The servers' shutdown means players will no longer be able to play online destruction derby matches in the game. Nevertheless, the players will be able to continue playing against AI-controlled opponents through the Arcade Mode, albeit “its functionality and the overall experience may be impacted by the server shutdown,” as Sony warns.
The delisting reportedly happened without a lengthy advance notice period, typically seen with multiplayer game shutdowns. According to reports, PlayStation users were informed through notifications and emails, while the game’s social media channels had remained largely inactive since 2022.Destruction AllStars launched on February 2, 2021, after initially being planned as a PlayStation 5 launch title in late 2020. Sony delayed the game a few weeks before the PS5 launch and reduced its original $69.99 price to $19.99. The company also included the title as part of PlayStation Plus at launch.Destruction AllStars was a vehicular combat game that combined on-foot gameplay, allowing players to exit their cars in matches, avoid attacks, and steal cars from opponents. The game was developed by Lucid Games.Lucid Games was founded in 2011 by former members of Bizarre Creations, the studio known for racing titles such as Project Gotham Racing and Blur. Following Destruction AllStars, Lucid was mainly a support studio on projects such as Sea of Thieves. At the time of its reveal during Sony’s “Future of Gaming” showcase in 2020, the game was positioned as part of PlayStation’s push into multiplayer live-service experiences. However, the title struggled to maintain a large player base over time. The shutdown also comes amid broader changes in multiplayer and live-service games across the industry. Several online-focused titles have either ended support or announced plans to shut down this year.Sony itself has faced challenges with some of its live-service initiatives in recent years, despite continuing to invest in multiplayer-focused projects. Games such as Helldivers 2 and Gran Turismo 7 remain among the company’s active, online-focused titles, while other projects have reportedly undergone restructuring or a change in direction.Players who still have Destruction AllStars can still play the game's offline Arcade Mode after November 2026, but the multiplayer-focused experience that defined the title has effectively come to an end.
