Fortnite v38.10 update goes live: Simpsons crossover, new features and more

Fortnite's v38.10 update has launched, featuring a highly anticipated crossover with The Simpsons. The update introduces new skins like Moe Szyslak, companion Spider-Pig, physics-based donuts, and iconic Springfield map elements. Additionally, gameplay enhancements include the return of chainsaws and new developer tools for creators.

Epic Games has started the roll out of its much-awaited v38.10 update with Simpson crossover. As per multiple online reports, the Fortnite players noticed the message ‘servers not responding’ as Epic Games started the roll out of its much-awaited v38.10 update. The Fortnite servers went offline at 9:00 AM UTC (2:30 PM IST), with downtime expected to last until 10:30 AM UTC (4:00 PM IST).The latest update is part of Fortnite’s regular patch cycle and Epic Games also confirmed that matchmaking was disabled shortly before maintenance started. This is a standard practice which is followed by Epic Games. Players from across the platforms were unable to log in, join matches or access the creative modes during this window.

Simpsons crossover in Fortnite: What’s new in v38.10

The latest Fortnite update expands its collaboration with The Simpsons. The latest update also brings some quirky new features and characters:
  • Moe Szyslak Skin: The grumpy bartender from Moe’s Tavern is now available in the Item Shop.
  • Spider-Pig (Plopper): Homer’s pet pig joins the fray as a sidekick-style companion.
  • Physics-Based Donuts: Giant rolling donuts now function as throwable items, causing damage and destruction on impact.
  • Springfield Map Elements: Iconic locations like the Kwik-E-Mart and the Simpson home appear across the island, adding nostalgic flair
Along with this, Epic Games also teased a new animated short film titled ‘Sugar High’ which brings Simpsons crossover to the game. The short film offers a glimpse of the future content which includes Homer clone army spawned from nuclear waste. This could lead to a new horde mode or limited-time event where players battle waves of radioactive Homers.

Gameplay and developer tools

Apart from this crossover, the update v38.10 also brings many gameplay and development enhancements which include:
  • Chainsaws Return: Players can use chainsaws for mobility and combat across Springfield’s terrain.
  • New Developer Tools: Epic added in-island transaction features for creators using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), enabling V-Bucks monetization and faster island publishing.
  • Bug Fixes and Balance Tweaks: Weapon and vehicle adjustments improve overall gameplay stability
