Borderlands 4 introduces The Timekeeper in new trailer, coming 2025

Gearbox Software and 2K have unveiled Borderland 4, promising t 4, promising the most ambitious entry yet in the acclaimed looter-shooter franchise. The game, set to launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, introduces players to Kairos, a dangerous new world dominated by a ruthless dictator known as The Timekeeper.

The reveal trailer, premiered at The Game Awards, showcases a world-altering catastrophe that threatens the villain's perfect Order, setting the stage for explosive gameplay and narrative tension. Gearbox promises to evolve the series' signature style while maintaining the core elements that have made Borderlands a fan-favorite franchise.

Key innovations include the most diverse Vault Hunter skill trees to date, allowing unprecedented player customization. Gamers will experience seamless zone transitions, dynamic world events, and new traversal mechanics, including a summonable vehicle that lets players explore Kairos's stunning landscapes. The game supports solo play and cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox's CEO, described the game as a celebration of "freedom and being badass," emphasizing its massive world and over-the-top combat. The franchise has already sold more than 87 million copies, and this latest installment aims to push the boundaries of the looter-shooter genre.
