Xiaomi launches Mi Max & iHealth Box; Mi Band 2 delayed
NEW DELHI: Xiaomi, at its event in China, launched a new health-tracking device called iHealth Box. The event also saw the company’s Mi Max smartphone and MIUI 8 custom ROM going official.
The iHealth box basically measures body vitals like blood pressure and heart beat, and connects to the phone via WiFi. It has a 4.3-inch colour screen and costs CNY 399, which translates to about Rs 4,000. There is no official word as to whether the iHealth box will be launched in India or not.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun also showcased the Mi Band 2 during the event. However, the CEO had already confirmed, ahead of the launch event, that the Mi Band 2 is delayed by a month due to manufacturing difficulties.
The Mi Band 2 comes with an LCD screen along with a round physical button.
The new Mi Band 2 will likely be able to display information such as time, date, step count, heart rate and calorie count, in addition to notifications for calls and messages. Following the first generation model, the Mi Band 2 could allow users to unlock their smartphones remotely.
