Twitter rolls out 'Night Mode' for Android users
NEW DELHI: Twitter has announced the launch of 'Night Mode' feature on Android. The mode switches most of the interface from white to a darker appearance. The 'Night Mode' user interface (UI) automatically replaces the white background with a dark blue user interface paired with white text to make it easy on the eyes during the night.
The microblogging website has been testing the feature among a small number of alpha testers since past few months. So far, there's no word on when the feature will come to
As to how to enable it, here's how users can go about enabling the feature (as per Twitter support:
* In the top menu, you will either see a navigation menu icon or your profile icon. Tap whichever icon you have.
* Next to Night Mode, drag the slider to turn on or off.
Twitter recently also announced that it will finally allow general users and other non-verified organisations to get their accounts verified (get that blue tickbadge). So far, the verified accounts were limited largely to celebrities.
The microblogging firm in a blog post said that it will verify the accounts "maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas."
To fill the form, users are required to visit the company's dedicated support page. The one-page form asks users to confirm the account that has to be verified and why it should be verified. To fill the form, users need a verified mobile number, confirmed email address, a bio, a profile photo along with a header photo reflecting the person, a birthday, a link to a website other than twitter, and tweets set as 'Public' in privacy settings.
Twitter might also ask users to "scan and upload a legible copy of your government-issued ID (such as a passport or driver's license) to confirm your identity." Once the form has been completed, Twitter will reply via email. If the request is denied, users can again submit the form 30 days after receiving the email from the company.
