'Technology making society less humane': Randstad
MUMBAI:
In Randstad's Workmonitor survey on the consumption of technology and the criticality of having a seamless balance of 'tech' and 'touch' at the workplace today, a majority of the survey respondents (75%) mentioned that they feel technology makes society less humane. Of these, female respondents (80%) were higher in number.
Respondents said the omnipresence of technology at the workplace made them feel less connected to their co-workers. A large majority (75%) mentioned that even outside work, they feel disconnected from people in the real world owing to the pervasiveness of technology. Again, more women are in agreement with this statement.

The ideal scenario would be when we can bring both these together to a harmonious balance to achieve the organizational objectives. Therefore, it is vital for organizations to help their employees understand how to strike the right balance between 'tech' and 'touch' at the workplace amidst all the technological innovations that are happening. This balancing act would only be successful if we have clarity on the three most important factors that determine the usage of tech and touch at the workplace; i.e. audience, scale and type of
"Just having the right technological tools will not transform an organization; tools are only effective when the right environment, the right culture and the right support are in place. When organizations can attain this, is when the real transformation happens," Moorthy added.
