Smartphone users, ZTE wants you to give ideas for its next smartphone
NEW DELHI: The Chinese telecommunications company ZTE wants users’ help for its next smartphone The company has announced Project CSX to crowd source ideas for the new handset. Those interested in sharing ideas can become a part of the project by joining the company’s Z-community.
The smartphone is scheduled to launch in 2017.
“This is the first time a phone manufacturer is stepping out and crowdsourcing something entirely new, from start to finish,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA. “It’s a bold approach for the industry that demonstrates how ZTE keeps consumers at the heart of everything we imagine, design and deliver. Project CSX is taking our core value to the next level,” Cheng added.
According to the company, the project will be in two stages. One, wherein users can submit; two, wherein users can vote for their favourite ideas.
For those who want to submit ideas, ZTE has laid down some rules. According to ZTE guidelines, the submission should only be that of a mobile product, the technology should be realistic (something that is possible to achieve till 2017), and the final device should be affordable for general users.
Those whose ideas are selected will receive a cash prize as well as a chance to visit CES 2017 conference in Las Vegas next year. Also, those who have registered on Z-Community will also get early access to the final product.
ZTE recently introduced two new smartphones - Blade V6 and Axon Mini, in India. While the Blade V6 is priced at Rs 9,999, the Axon Mini carries a price tag of Rs 23,599. In terms of specifications the ZTE Axon Mini is more powerful of the two with better display, more RAM, bigger battery and more.
