Motorola Moto Z Play lists on export/import website
NEW DELHI: Recently, there were reports that Motorola is planning to launch the flagship Moto Z and the Moto Z Force smartphones in India by the end of this year. However, it seems that the Lenovo-owned company is planning another launch for the country.
According to a listing on the import and export website Zauba, the company might be launching a completely new variant of the Moto Z smartphone in India.
As per the listing on Zauba website, Motorola has sent its Moto Z Play smartphone units for testing purposes in the country. Incidentally, this is the first time that we are hearing about this smartphone. Motorola has so far not disclosed anything about the device. The listing mentions the name of the new Moto Z variant as well as its display size.
The Moto Z Play is supposed to feature a 5.5-inch display, which is the same as that of the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force. The handset is rumoured to sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, with 3GB RAM. It would run Android 6.0.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It is said to be a mid-range version of the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force.
Motorola recently confirmed that it would not be killing the Moto X line-up anytime soon. According to the company, although both Moto X and the Moto Z series of devices share similar specifications, they offer an altogether different experience to customers.
According to analysts, since most of smartphones in Moto X series feature specifications similar to that of the new Moto Z and Moto Z Force, it may be difficult for Moto X devices to find a market. This also means that the X series might get relegated to the mid-range segment, as the new 'flagship' title has now been taken over by Moto Z line-up.
