Indian smartphone brand
Micromax last month announced 15 new
smartphones
, which the company said it would launch during the year. Interestingly, the company already seems set to step up its game by introducing a new Canvas smartphone series as soon as next week.
According to industry insiders, Micromax will be launching a new Canvas series on Monday that will be competing with other rival smartphones in the sub-Rs 9,000 price segment. While not all the handset specifications are known, the first
smartphone in the upcoming series is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display and will be powered by an Octa-Core processor, clubbed with 3GB of RAM.
The smartphone will also be supporting 4G LTE connectivity along with other regular connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and micro-USB connectivity. Nothing more is known about the handset yet.
Given the price point and the specifications of the upcoming
Micromax Canvas smartphone, the handset will directly be taking on the
LeEco Le 1s Eco, which features the same aforementioned specifications. Some of the other competitors in the same price segment are Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and Asus Zenfone 2 Laser.
Micromax recently launched two handsets in the market, the Canvas 6 and the Canvas 6 Pro. Both the smartphones cost Rs 13,999 but feature slightly different specifications.
Micromax’s sub-brand
YU Televentures is also set to launch its flagship smartphone later this month. The smartphone named Yu Yunicorn is rumoured to launch on May 19.
The Yu CEO Rahul Sharma recently confirmed that the
exclusive deal between YU Televentures and Cyanogen Inc has ended. The company will now be concentrating more towards pure
Android
experience in its upcoming smartphones.
