IT minister Milind Deora to interact online using Google + hangouts with citizens on June 6

PANAJI: The internet and mobile telephony have had a profound impact on India's economy, society, politics and culture. Milind Deora, minister of state for IT, communications and shipping, is scheduled to use Google+ Hangouts on June 6, to answer questions from people across the globe on the future of this rapidly evolving sector.
The session -- during which Deora will answer questions on socio-political issues that concern youth -- will be moderated by TV anchor Cyrus Broacha.The peculiarity of the session will be the minister is to use the Internet -- the very medium whose future he will be discussing -- to connect with participants, some of whom are expected to be joining in from abroad.
Questions for Deora are likely to seek his views on a wide range of topics, from tower radiation to Internet content and rural poverty to electoral funding.
A number of government leaders including the finance minister P Chidambaram, deputy chairman of the planning commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, minister of road transport and highways C P Joshi, and minister of state for human resource development Shashi Tharoor have used interactive web sessions for seeking views and suggestions from citizens, indicating the potential that the Internet has to shape democratic discourse in India.
