Google's July 2016 Android distribution stats show biggest-ever jump for Android Marshmallow
NEW DELHI: Google is out with its monthly
Although this is quite a significant increase in a month for
Android Jelly Bean OS version power 17.8% devices, while Android Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread and Froyo are placed at 1.7%, 1.9% and 0.1% respectively. These number are gathered by Google from those Android devices that have accessed Google Play Store in a seven-day period till July 11.
Google last month announced that its next Android version will be called Android Nougat. The company had first showcased Android N in March through a developer preview. It has introduced support for multiple apps on the same window in the upcoming version. Android N will also allow users to open two apps in split-screen mode on Nexus devices as well as other smartphones and tablets that get the OS later on.
The OS will intuitively gauge and change the screen display of various apps, however, a user can also himself/herself recreate it with new dimensions.
The upcoming OS will bring 'Quick Settings' feature, improved Doze battery saving performance and add the ability to block phone numbers on a system level. There will be an enhanced notification panel as well.
