WWE forced to call off match due to sudden injury

AJ Styles has finally made his return to WWE. While the fans were thrilled to have The Phenomenal One back, the superstar sustained an injury during his match with Carmelo Hayes which was booked right after his return. He acknowledged some recent regrets but said he was focused on rebuilding his legacy. The superstar reminded everyone that Nashville was where it all began and that this was still the house he built.Carmelo Hayes interrupted his promo, mocking Styles’ return and taunting him with remarks that Styles was past his prime. Despite being a fan, Hayes dismissed the legacy and relevance of The Phenomenal One and claimed he deserved the United States Championship. Styles immediately challenged Hayes to a match to shut him down, but Hayes declined.The match finally happened. Styles delivered a series of chops to Carmelo Hayes, followed by a powerful dropkick that sent Hayes outside the ring. Back inside, AJ attempted a springboard moonsault, but Hayes dodged and hit a crossbody for a near fall. After a brief struggle, Hayes targeted AJ’s ankle, forcing AJ to fight back, but his injured leg caused the referee to stop the match. As the match was called off, Styles was seen frustrated with the decision but the unprecedented victory went to Hayes.It is unclear if Styles’ injury was real or part of the potential storyline WWE is cooking for The Phenomenal One. Styles was absent from WWE for quite a while but not due to any injury, the superstar was very much active in the indie circles.Following the match, Styles was seen leaving the ring accompanied by the doctors.
