In an X (formerly known as Twitter) statement released on Monday, July 22, 2024, the recent WWE Tag Team Championships winner addressed the fire that heavily damaged his father's restaurant in Cleveland over the weekend.
Gargano acknowledged that many wrestling fans had contacted him about visiting the establishment, Gargano's Restaurant & Catering, during the upcoming SummerSlam event. He expressed relief that his father was not present at the time of the fire. The fire, which occurred Sunday, reportedly left the building beyond repair. Gargano's father, who had owned and operated the restaurant for over 50 years, was said to be in the process of selling the property before the blaze.
He penned, “I figured I should touch on this because people are finding out, and I know a lot of wrestling fans were looking forward to going to my Dad's restaurant when they were in Cleveland for Summerslam.”
“Last night, there was a fire, and my Dad's restaurant was badly damaged. I'm grateful that my Dad was not there and is okay. He is 82 years old, this is his life's work. He has worked in that building every day for almost 50 years. I basically grew up there.. and now it's just gone. It is extremely heartbreaking for my family,” he concluded.
Nonetheless, Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, longtime NXT rivals turned odd friends, won the WWE Tag Team Championships in a dramatic battle against A-Town Down Under on SmackDown. The victory marked the duo's triumphant comeback to tag team glory, also known as #DIY.
