Wren Sinclair’s arrival to NQCC has been life changing for Charlie Dempsey. Last week, Wren Sinclair was told that if she defeats Kendal Grey, she will be officially welcomed into NQCC. That’s not all, Sinclair’s win also meant that Tony D’Angelo would have to put the NXT Heritage Cup on the line against Charlie Dempsey.
Well, Wren won against all odds and brought the NQCC one step closer to grabbing some kind of glory.Last night, her interference helped Charlie Dempsey seal the deal and emerge victorious against Tony D’Angelo. Let’s take a closer look at how the match between Charlie Dempsey and Tony D’Angelo unfolded.

Charlie Dempsey defeats Tony D'Angelo to become the new NXT Heritage Cup Champion

Right from the start, Tony D’Angelo made it clear that he is the champion. He relentlessly went after Dempsey, who struggled quite a bit to keep his opponent at bay. Four rounds went by with D’Angelo leading the show, he was also able to get one out of the two falls required for the win. However, everything changed after the fourth round.
Slowly, but surely, Dempsey began to make his way back into the match and began to oppose D’Angelo with some more conviction. He was able to put up some decent resistance and even managed to score a fall in the fourth round. However, Dempsey was back on the losing side once the fifth round began.
Being just one fall away from a loss, Tony D’Angelo threw caution to the wind and began to obliterate Charlie Dempsey. The Don sent Charlie across the ring, slamming and beating him in every way possible. Unfortunately, D’Angelo decided to throw Dempsey off the top of the turnbuckle, which turned out to be a massive mistake.

Right as Tony sat Charlie on top of the ropes, NQCC started to try and interfere because they knew that another slam could end the night for Dempsey. But, D’Angelo stood his ground and sent the NQCC members flying out of the ring. Wren Sinclair saw that the referee was distracted and used this opportunity to attack D’Angelo near the ropes.
It was clear to see that Sinclair’s attack caught Tony by surprise. D’Angelo lost his footing, thus allowing Dempsey to recover and restart the fight. Charlie rushed down from the turnbuckle and caught Tony to hit a Butterfly slam. After this, there was no coming back for Tony D’Angelo, who stayed down for the three-count.
Dempsey went on to win the match and is now the new NXT Heritage Cup Champion. Wren Sinclair deserves a ton of credit for Charlie’s win, he wouldn’t have been able to become champ without her. Moreover, now that Dempsey has his hands on a title, it seems like things are only going to get better for his faction, the NQCC. It’ll be interesting to see what Shawn Michaels has in store for NQCC and Dempsey over the coming weeks, for now, the group will be celebrating their leader’s title win.
