CM Punk to Step In as Guest Referee for NXT Title Match at WWE NXT Chicago EventHere are the top five moments from WWE NXT September 17, 2024
1) CM Punk ignites a brawl between Trick Williams and Ethan Page
CM Punk’s appearance on NXT tonight was supposed to be for a special announcement, and Punk sure delivered on the special aspect of it. The Best in the World took the stage and revealed that he would serve as the special guest referee for Ethan Page vs. Trick Williams. Punk instructed Page and Williams to listen to him at all times during their match on October 1, 2024.
While it seemed like Punk’s presence in the ring would help avoid a brawl between Ethan and Trick, he was actually the one who ignited it.
Punk said that he is the official and since he’s already in the ring, Williams and Page can attack each other. This led to a big brawl and security had to get involved to break things up. Punk even joined the fans and chanted “Let them fight” making this one of the best moments from tonight.
2) Roxanne Perez interrupts CM Punk
The NXT universe was desperately looking forward to CM Punk’s announcement ahead of his appearance during the Chicago show. Even Shawn Michaels had no clue as to what Punk wanted to announce until the moment he took the stage. As the fans waited with bated breath, Roxanne Perez showed up and interrupted The Best in the World.
Roxanne’s interruption was rude enough, but she took things one step further and told Punk that she should’ve been a Drew McIntyre fan instead. This got a reaction out of both Punk and Drew and was one of the better moments from tonight.
3) Giulia says the clock is ticking on Roxanne Perez’s title reign
After Perez interrupted Punk and told him that she prefers Drew McIntyre over him, Punk began to compliment Roxanne. He said that she is not only the best in NXT, but is one of the better fighters in WWE. However, Punk took a complete U-turn midway and mentioned that her time at the top will be over once Giulia beats her in a couple of weeks.
Just as Punk mentioned her name, Giulia walked out and approached Roxanne Perez. Giulia simply told Perez that she only has two weeks left with the title and started to leave the ring. Roxanne tried attacking Giulia while she was leaving, but her attack was stopped by CM Punk. It’s funny how CM Punk stopped a brawl between Giulia and Perez but ended up igniting one between Page and Trick.
4) Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley get revenge on Rosemary and Wendy Choo
Tatum Paxley was attacked by Rosemary and Wendy Choo during her last appearance on NXT. But, fortunately for Paxley, Lyra Valkyria was lurking backstage and showed up to help her once Rosemary and Wendy Choo’s assault began. Valkyria quickly dealt with the attackers and formed a team with Tatum Paxley after finally being reunited.
On tonight’s episode, Valkyria and Paxley finally went head-to-head with Wendy Choo and Rosemary. It was an entertaining fight throughout and ended with Rosemary being pinned. Seeing Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley come together after so long and immediately put a win on the board was a special moment.
5) Je’Von Evans and Cedric Alexander defeat NQCC
Je’Von Evans was close to winning the Heritage Cup against Charlie Dempsey last week. Unfortunately, an interference from Tavion Heights stopped Je’Von just short of the title so he swore to get revenge. Evans immediately teamed up with Cedric Alexander and set out for revenge against NQCC.
Tonight, Evans and Alexander finally faced NQCC and ended up completing their revenge. This match was filled with plenty of moments where all participants shined in their own way. Moreover, it was easily the most entertaining bout of the night. Evans along with Cedric Alexander was successful in getting revenge on NQCC. Je’Von’s excellent performance has also earned him a fight against Randy Orton when NXT heads to St. Louis next month.
