In a recent interaction with
WWE Pop Questions, Wade Barrett commented on who the greatest villain of WWE was according to him. The WWE SmackDown commentator played the role of a heel for the most of his wrestling career. The former Intercontinental Champion revealed that given a choice, his pick for the greatest villain would be JBL.
According to Barrett, what made JBL stand out was the fact that he lacked any redeeming qualities.
This made the audience despise him. Speaking to WWE Pop Questions, he shared, "The Wrestling God, JBL, a man who had literally zero redeeming qualities. Everybody hated him, except for one, young Wade Barrett, who decided, "I'm going to try and model myself after that guy."
Wade Barrett's final match was held back in April 2016 which was part of Monday Night RAW, where he joined hands with Sheamus in The League of Nations. Unfortunately, their team lost against The New Day's Big E and Kofi Kingston in the Tag Team Championship. However, Wade Barrett made a mark in wrestling winning the Intercontinental Champion title five times.
Wade Barrett shares that he would like to face Drew McIntyre in a matchWhile on a separate interview with AceOdds, Barrett shared that he would want to face Drew McIntyre in a match that he would like to be held at Wembley Stadium in England, his home country. Commenting on the same, he shared, "If I could have one match for the remainder of my days on this planet, it would absolutely be me against Drew McIntyre at Wembley Stadium. If they dangled that in front of me at any point in time, yeah, absolutely. I'm coming back, and I'm having that match sold out at Wembley Stadium. But that is a bit of a pipe dream."
John Bradshaw Layfield was rebranded as JBL, a heel and went on to become one of the greatest villains of all time. His character rebranding involved him becoming a rough, brawling and bad-tempered elite businessman from Texas. The gimmick was inspired by his accomplishments in the stock market. He got inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020.
