Over the year, WWE Wrestlemania has been witness to some of the iconic matches in all of professional wrestling history. The event happens every year, and hosted at some of the most popular venues all over the world.
Wrestlemania has seen the end of many legacies, and some of the most important title changes has also happened at this event. With that said, here are some of the iconic bouts that have taken place at the event so far.
Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (WrestleMania X - 1994)
This match featured some high-flying action from both the superstars and was considered as iconic because it set the stage for the ladder matches that we see during this day and age. Prior to this match, ladder matches weren’t that common at all and wrestlers weren’t exactly creative when it came to using the ladder.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock (WrestleMania X-Seven - 2001)
This match showcased the Attitude Era beautifully and saw The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin pull off some really amazing moves in the ring. Considering the action that we got to see in the ring, it would be correct to assume that this match defined the pinnacle of the Attitude Era where brutality met the in-ring spectacularity that these two individuals introduced to the match.
The Rock vs. Hollywood Hogan (WrestleMania X8 - 2002)
The long standing feud between The Rock and Hollywood Hogan came to a conclusion in this match, where the two put up an amazing display of their prowess as professional wrestlers. It’s regarded as an iconic match because it saw The Rock’s new age wrestling persona collide with Hollywood Hogan who was considered to be one of the old guard in wrestling. Considering the performance that The Rock delivered in the ring, this is the match where his position as the most electrifying performer in the world of professional wrestling was established.
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania 25 - 2009)
The Undertaker and the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Micheals looked to settle their feud at WrestleMania 25 in a match that was one for the ages. The bout is regarded as one of the best bouts in all professional wrestling and was filled with a lot of dramatic spots and near falls. Although the Deadman stood tall at the end of this match, Shawn Michaels also showed how strong of a wrestler he is. This wouldn’t be the end of the saga because the two wrestlers met once again in WrestleMania 26 where Undertaker would win the match and retire Shawn Michaels.
The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 30 - 2014)
This match redefined the course of WrestleMania history because Brock Lesnar became the first person to conquer The Undertaker’s streak, becoming the one in 21-1. The outcome of this match stunned the entire WWE universe and even Paul Heyman, who couldn’t believe that his client had conquered the streak. The match was bloody, brutal, and full of some really interesting spots, and is regarded as one of the most iconic matches in Wrestling history primarily because of the streak being broken.
