WWE superstar Stephanie Vaquer was crowned the NXT Women's North American Champion at "WWE NXT" Vengeance Day, held at CareFirst Arena in Washington D.C. The Chilean professional wrestler defeated Fallon Henley, a member of the Fatal Influence stable with the spiral tap attack.
With fellow wrestlers Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx of the Fatal Influence expected to assist Fallon Henley in the championship match, the chances were against Stephanie Vaquer, but she managed to overcome the situation and claimed the title.
After feuding for weeks with The Fatal Influence, Stephanie Vaquer finally locked horns with Henley only to become the first-ever South American-born wrestler to win a championship in WWE.
Stephanie Vaquer sends emotional note after scripting WWE history
Stephanie Vaquer recently took to her X handle to send an emotional message after scripting WWE history at the
NXT Vengeance Day Championship. The WWE superstar wrote: “I sacrificed everything in my life to follow my dreams. And this makes it all worth it because today, I make history. Today, I become the first South American to win a championship in WWE. From now on, 'La Primera' is the new North American Champion of NXT."
Vanquer highlighted the hard work and sacrifices she made over her lifetime to follow her dreams and to achieve this feat in her career. She mentioned that the North American Champion made her sacrifice worth it.
How Stephanie Vaquer managed to claim her NXT Championship title
The bout opened the event on Saturday and saw Vaquer forced to overcome all of Henley and her
Fatal Influence stablemates, Jazmyn Nyx and Jayne. Jayne delivered a kick to the challenger outside the ring, while Nyx distracted the referee, allowing Henley to land a lariat and two forearms for the near-fall.
Vaquer fought back, executing a 619 and a cross-body to suplex combination, then repeatedly driving Henley’s face into the mat after trapping her head between her knees. Just as she gained momentum, Jayne interfered again, landing a sucker punch from ringside, that led to a close pinfall from the champion. This shocked Jayne, as she believed that the match was almost over.
