WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights (1/31/25): CM Punk is all set for the Royal Rumble 2025 and More

The go-home edition of SmackDown for the 2025 Royal Rumble event proved to be an enthralling show and build further excitement to the WWE Premium Live Event set to take place in Indianapolis.

WWE presented the February 1st edition of SmackDown from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana, Indianapolis. The go-home edition for the Royal Rumble 2025 event featured exciting matches and top moments heading into the Premium Live Event.

Opening segment with Kevin Owens and CM Punk

Kevin Owens was interviewed in the ring by Joe Tessitore before his ladder match with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title at the Royal Rumble 2025. He took the Winged Eagle and was about to leave when CM Punk came to the ring. The duo had a heated exchange and almost came to blows before KO left the ring with the title.

Jimmy Uso vs Carmelo Hayes

This match was suppose to happen last week, but was moved to this edition and saw Carmelo Hayes attack Jimmy Uso as well before his match at the time. The action was back-and-forth between the duo, and Jimmy Uso used the tights to roll up Carmelo Hayes for the win, leaving him shocked.

Chelsea Green vs Michin

This was a rematch from WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024 for the WWE Women’s US title between the heated rivals. As always, Chelsea Green had her ally Piper Niven in her corner, but this time, Michin had B-Fab in her corner. The match was an enthralling sight to witness, with fast-paced action. In the end, Chelsea Green got herself disqualified after hitting Michin with the Kendo Stick and retained her title in the process.

Pretty Deadly & DIY vs Motor City Machine Guns & Angel & Berto

This was a highly explosive 8-man tag team match between four of the best teams on the SmackDown roster. It was a sight of a classic tag team showdown bringing top-notch action to the ring. During the final moments, a chaotic affair erupted, and Angel and Berto walked out on their partners. Following that, Tomasso Ciampa accidentally kicked Elton Prince off the ring apron. Chris Sabin rolled him up to pick up the win for his time.

Liv Morgan vs Naomi

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were coming off a huge win over Bianca Belair and Naomi on RAW in a non-title match. She went head-to-head with Naomi on SmackDown. It was a thrilling encounter between both top stars of the women’s division. The ending saw Naomi scoring a rollup victory over Morgan. This led to a post-match brawl between both sides, where Morgan and Rodriguez stood tall over the WWE Women’s tag team champions.

The Miz vs Andrade

The match was made official following a backstage encounter between The Miz and Andrade El Idolo in Nick Aldis’ office. This was Miz’s debut match since moving to SmackDown in the transfer window. The duo put up a stellar showdown, but in the end, it was a surprise spinning-back elbow by Andrade that led to The Miz losing a tooth and the match as well.

Tiffany Stratton’s in-ring segment

Tiffany Stratton was interviewed by Michael Cole and Pat McAfee in the ring. She talked about her title reign and the Royal Rumble. She was interrupted by Candice LeRae, who berated her for betraying Nia Jax. Following that, Jax appeared and accidentally laid out LeRaw. But then she laid a massive beatdown on the WWE Women’s Champion.

LA Knight & Damian Priest vs Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga

The match was made after an in-ring segment that took place earlier in the night. The two heated sides went back and forth and put up a spectacular in-ring showdown. The ending of the bout following a hard-hitting match saw Damian Priest picking up the win by hitting a South of Haven chokeslam on Tama Tonga. But Priest had no time to celebrate as Jacob Fatu took him down to end the show.
